Alain Girard Domaine Des Brosses Sancerre Rouge L'indiscrete 2017
Sancerre ROUGE (Pinot Noir), to be precise. Incredibly priced and RARE to see in the U.S.! Only 160 bottles! TOO COOL. We never get enough regular Sancerre as it is, but ROUGE? So great. We love the Girard family’s wines, and they greatly overdeliver -- especially today at $24.95! Wow!
Domaine des Brosses was established in 1875 and lies just south of the town of Sancerre. The Girard family modernized the winery and vineyards when they bought the estate in 1973. Nicolas Girard has now taken over his father's 27 acre estate and with his brother, Anthony, is making wines that are fresh, modern and aromatic.
The 2017 “L'indiscrete” Pinot Noir is elegant and subtle, with bright red fruits, soft tannins, and crisp yet balanced acidity. Silky attack with juicy cherry, roasted beet and cranberry notes, pepper, mineral, tobacco and cloves. Solid now but will improve over 5+ years as well. Give this is a good decant before sitting down to a Bresse-style chicken with morels. Man, take us back to France!
As we said, RARE! Will go fast...while it lasts…!
