Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Wow! Domaine Jean Tardy’s bottling from this esteemed vineyard will run you, oh, about $1,140 LESS than Domaine Leroy’s version. Interested? You should be!! “Tardy continues to do great work with his mostly village level appellations and his wines are known for their ability to drink well young but age extremely well." Alan Meadows, Burghound

Au bas de Combe is the brilliant, under-the-radar plot adjacent to Vosne Romanee’s big-name Premier Crus Les Chaumes and Malconsorts and a football field length away from La Tache, to boot! It is no surprise that big names like Michel Gros, Meo Camuzet, Mugneret-Gibourg and Leroy have long been established here.

Guillaume Tardy farms these vines by hand, planted in 1937, yes you read that right, 80+ years old! Just a stone's throw from the legendary 1er Cru, Malconsorts, this is killer dirt...and the proof is in the bottle. Vosne aromatic spice and mineral complexity meets NSGs signature power and length. Fine, focused dark red pinot fruit, plums, cranberries, dusty red cherry and earth, with plenty of “old vine sap” and a velvet texture. Electric and mouthcoating, this simply drinks far beyond its station. Wow!

Priced at an astounding $59.95 (current vintage, 2016, will run you $100+!!), this needs to be in your cellar for consuming over the next decade or two! Only 14 cases to be had! If you love serious red Burg, don’t miss!!

About the Producer

The Tardy’s are originally from the village of Flagey-Echezeaux but are now located in Vosne Romanee. Victor Tardy, in the 1920s began working for Domaine Camuzet and in 1945 Etienne Camuzet passed him some of his prime vineyards in “metayage” (essentially a sharecropping arrangement). Jean Tardy took over for his father in 1966 and Meo Camuzet again gives him some additional plots in metayage including Clos Vougeot, 1er cru Vosne and 1er cru Nuits Saint Georges. Since then Jean has purchased plots in Chambolle, Vosne, Fixin and Nuits Saint Georges. Now working side by side with his son Guillaume, this estate is making some of the best wines in their storied history.
