Chateau d'Yquem Ygrec 2016 (Double Magnum 3L) - First Bottle

Reviews

97 James Suckling -
A unique dry white Bordeaux with a cool, fragrant and vibrant personality. Lots of candied citrus and pineapple with hints of almonds and finely chopped fresh herbs. Although quite voluptuous and creamy on the palate, you’d never guess that it had 14.5 per cent alcohol, because of the wonderful, pineapple and lemon freshness. Just a whisker of sweetness at the long, elegant finish. A blend of 75 per cent sauvignon blanc and 25 per cent semillon. Drink or hold.
96 Wine Spectator -
Rather rich, with coconut, green fig, creamed pear, yellow apple and jasmine notes all melded together, picking up light acacia and elderflower accents on the finish. Very, very showy, with the underlying cut to pull it off. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Best from 2019 through 2026. 833 cases made.

The glorious dry white from Chateau Yquem in 3 Liter no less. 97 and 96 points and just an absolute pleasure to drink. To my taste, it is one of the best Ygrec's made in a long time!

About the Producer

The history of Château d’Yquem is like a novel, an epic saga full of events and colourful personalities spanning more than four centuries. Chateau d’Yquem is not only the most famous chateau in Sauternes today, the estate has possessed an exalted reputation dating back to the middle ages when d’Yquem was owned by the King of England. Today the estate is owned by the infamous luxury brand Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton who have made significant re-investment into the property. Yquem is in a class of their own, quite literally, in the classification of 1855, it was given a unique classification of Premier Cru Superieur", because it so clearly stood above all other Chateau.
