Domaine de la Cote de l`Ange Chateauneuf du Pape Secret`s Angel 2010 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
A blend of 70% Mourvedre and 30% Grenache, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Secret de l`Ange probably comes closest in personality and character to the debut vintage of California`s Manfred Krankl and brilliant Southern Rhone oenologist Philippe Cambie`s Chimere, made at Clos St. Jean. Dense purple, with a stunning nose of raw beef, blueberry liqueur and spring flowers, the wine is ripe, intense, full-bodied and extremely backward and infantile in its evolution. This is serious wine for conservative and patient wine geeks to forget for at least another 5-6 years. It should last for 25-30.` -- Robert Parker in the 11/1/2012 issue of the Wine AdvocateAdditional Notes from Robert Parker`s Wine Advocate: `This estate, run by Yannick and Corinne Gasparri, is at the top of its game, as recent vintages over the last decade have all been very strong. The introduction of the two special cuvees, the Cuvee Vieilles Vignes and the Mourvedre-dominated Secret de L`Ange, provides further evidence of their talent and access to fabulous fruit. The 2010s are brilliant wines across the board.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
The glorious 2010 vintage is on full display here, with traditional vilification and perfectly ripe fruit, it's no wonder this wine is a total knockout! Check out the review below! Robert Parker compares it to the Chimere, the Sine Qua Non/Clos Saint Jean collaboration that sells for $1,000 a magnum! Not bad company to be compared to. He also mentions that it will need some time to come together...guess what, that time has come. Only a few bottles! Don't wait on this one!

About the Producer

The Mestre Family is among the oldest in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Its members have been cultivating the vines there for several generations and have passed down the vineyard from generation to generation. Monique and Jean Claude Mestre created their own vineyard with part of the vines from the Côteau de l'Ange in the sixties and took over the family brand.
