Clos du Clocher Pomerol 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 James Suckling -
Wild violets and blueberries meld with earthy, almost truffle-like aromas. The palate is a powerhouse of ripe-plum, dark-cherry and blueberry flavors cast amid sturdy, powerful, long tannins. Finishes fresh and vivid. A standout wine. Try from 2023.
94 Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider -
Long, rich, polished and silky, this is a beauty. The fruit is ripe, the textures are polished and velvety, and the finish delivers plenty of both attributes.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc coming mainly from clay soils on the plateau and aged for one year in oak, 65% new, the 2015 Clos du Clocher springs forth with profound notes of crushed blackberries, black cherries and blueberry compote plus touches of iron ore, bouquet garni, beef drippings and black soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated in the mouth, it fills the palate with generous black and blue fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with persistent minerally notes.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
BEST USA PRICE on an utterly compelling, sexy, silky Pomerol from Clos du Clocher in the superb 2015 vintage. A no-brainer price if you love the Right Bank (we do, a LOT)! We kept saying to ourselves “Is this deal really happening?” -- but it did and the wine is HERE! No pre-arrival shenanigans ever at First Bottle...if we offer it, we own it! And what a gorgeous bottle it is. Dating back to a relatively late 1924, Clos du Clocher is a great example of a Bordeaux lover's “insider” wine -- massively overdelivering at its price point(especially today, at $49.95 w/free shipping on any 6 bottles).

Powerful and supple in the way only Pomerol can do it. Wine Advocate describes it best for us...”profound notes of crushed blackberries, black cherries and blueberry compote plus touches of iron ore, bouquet garni, beef drippings and black soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated in the mouth, it fills the palate with generous black and blue fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with persistent minerally notes.” YES! Bring it on. We all got our bottles for our stashes, and there are about 10 cases left (we have a bit of a Pomerol problem around here) -- grab it while we have it! Pomerol!

About the Producer

Clos du Clocher was founded in 1924 by Jean Baptiste Audy who started out with a small plot of vines near the church of Pomerol. The property was put together and created in a piecemeal fashion, one parcel or row of vines at a time. Since the original formation of Clos du Clocher, the estate has grown to three plots, totaling 11.3 acres in their Right Bank vineyards.
