Leoville Poyferre St. Julien 2012
You may have heard Wine Spectator announce its wine of the year on Friday, Chateau Leoville Barton. Today’s missive was a part of the same property as Leoville Barton. Chateau Leoville, until the French Revolution was a single, contiguous property which today is split into three Chateaux: Leoville Barton, Leoville Las Cases and Leoville Poyferre.
Today, having firmly established its own singular reputation, we can say the best wines EVER are being made here right now. 2012s are just coming into a drinking window, so NOW is the time to grab it, especially with fine pricing like we have today.
Jeb puts it well: “One of the more stacked, ripe and rockingly textured wines from the left bank, the 2012 Léoville Poyferré sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with terrific notes of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencil shavings and violets. Rich, full-bodied, supple and forward, with low acidity and ripe tannin.”
We couldn’t agree more. $74.95!! Amazing! ONLY 10 CASES TO SELL!
