A 2016 that has perfection written all over it is the 2016 Clos Des Truffiers, just an incredible vintage for this estate. Offering up an amazingly complex bouquet of cassis, exotic spices, white truffles, and dry aged beef, this full-bodied beauty hits the palate with a wealth of depth and richness as well as sweet tannins, yet stays silky, seamless, and light on its feet. Winemaker Claude Gros compares this to the 2001 (which I've rated as a perfect wine on more than one occasion), and you'll get no argument from me. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. I suspect this will be the finest wine ever made from the Languedoc.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Bottled in January, the 2016 Coteaux du Languedoc looks even better than it did as a barrel sample. It's a huge, full-bodied, rich wine of absolutely mammoth proportions, yet it remains fresh and vibrant. Grace notes of vanilla and chocolate accent concentrated blueberries and blackberries on the creamy-textured palate and linger through the long, supple finish. It should be released in July 2019.
