Jean-Louis Chave Selection Hermitage Farconnet 2010 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Wine Spectator -
A dense, dark style, with notes of licorice root, fig paste and blackberry pate de fruit forming the core, all coated in loamy tannins and rumbling through the tarry-edged finish. Still has some unwinding to do. Best from 2016 through 2026. 500 cases made.

About the Producer

Wine growers in the northern Rhone since 1481, the Chave family (currently helmed by Jean-Louis) represents 16 generations of unbroken lineage. Jean Louis joined his father in 1992 after completing undergraduate studies at University of Connecticut and a degree in oenology at Davis. It was at that time that he completely replanted vineyards on the family's original estate in Saint-Joseph, which had been abandoned in the early 1900s when phylloxera hit the region.
