A crazy deal (best USA price!) on a legendary wine from a tiny parcel in Clos de la Roche which is at the edge of Morey-Saint-Denis and adjacent to Gevrey-Chambertin. Clos de la Roche is always one of my very favorite Grand Crus and the 2016 Drouhin is no exception. This is has all the filigree and fineness you expect from this site with a beautiful upper register of lifted cherry, licorice, dried flowers and a hint of pomegranate. It's deeply mineral with wet limestone and forest floor flavors, it's also VERY long and is sure to age out well in the cellar as it is just a tiny bit closed off right now. Drink this from now until 2030. Outstanding!

About the Producer

With 78 hectares (193 acres), the Joseph Drouhin Domaine is one of the largest estates in the region. It owns vineyards in all of Burgundy: Chablis (39 hectares - 96 acres), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, (36 hectares - 89 acres), Côte Chalonnaise (3 hectares - 8 acres). It is comprised of a majority of Premier and Grand Crus, planted with the two Burgundian grape varietals, pinot noir and chardonnay.
