Sine Qua Non Grenache Dirt Vernacular 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

100 Jeb Dunnuck -
One of the finest Grenaches to ever pass my lips is the 2016 Grenache Dirt Vernacular and it's 78% Grenache, 11.5% Mourvedre, 7% Touriga Nacional, and the rest Petite Sirah. Reminding me of an old vine Grenache cuvee from the Maurel brothers in Chateauneuf du Pape, it boasts a huge nose of black raspberries, kirsch liqueur, graphite, ground herbs, and pepper. This is one of those wines that offers incredible intensity and depth, yet still just glides over the palate with no sense of heaviness whatsoever. Full-bodied, rich, layered, and pure, it?s a riveting example of Grenache that could come from nowhere else. Drink it any time over the coming 15+ years.

Sine Qua Non’s 2016 Grenache The Vernacular is a classic Sine Qua Non wine. Rich, powerful and aromatically deep, the 2016 has so much to offer. A rush of sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice, lavender and spice builds in an opulent, flamboyant wine that hits all the right notes. Mourvèdre, Touriga Nacional and Petite Sirah add striking sepia tones throughout. This is a stunning showing.

About the Producer

Sine Qua Non has become an international sensation and one of the most collected California wines. Manfred Krankl started with a vision and a whole lot of passion and turned it into an incredible success. They now own four rather diverse Estate vineyards: Eleven Confessions in Santa Rita Hills, Cumulus in south Santa Barbara, The Third Twin in Los Alamos and Molly Aida in Tepusquet Canyon planted to head trained Mourvedre. Without a doubt SQN produces some of the most interesting wines we taste every year.
