Fratelli Alessandria Barolo 2014 - First Bottle

Reviews

91+ Vinous -
Now with a few months in bottle, Alessandria's 2014 Barolo is a real powerhouse. Smoke, scorched earth, tobacco, menthol, licorice and wild cherry all convey an impression of gravitas, as this potent, muscular Barolo shows off its personality. The 2014 has quite a bit of density and richness at this level. I won't be surprised if it turns out even better than this note suggests. There is so much going on here.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Here is the MAJOR bonus point (besides our ridiculously great price) --- in 2014 Alessandria declassified their entire cru of San Lorenzo di Verduno into the straight Barolo --- trust us, it is a blockbuster! To quote Galloni: “The 2014 has quite a bit of density and richness at this level. I won't be surprised if it turns out even better than this note suggests. There is so much going on here.” Indeed!

About the Producer

At the northern edge of the Barolo zone, the Alessandria family, since the mid-19th century, has called this gentle landscape home. In 1870, when the family first established their farm, calling it Fratelli Alessandria, Verduno was the center of Barolo winemaking—it was here where families first crafted dry Nebbiolo wines in the style we know today. Today Verduno is experiencing a renaissance, and it is the “brothers” Alessandria who are guiding the wines of Verduno back to the heights they once held. It is of course a family affair—the brothers Gian Battista and Alessandro, and Alessandro’s son, Vittore, are the stewards of this generations-old estate.
