Vadiaperti Coda di Volpe Campania 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Vinous -
Luminous straw-green. The enticing nose offers mineral and spicy nuances to the pomaceous fruit aromas and flavors. Complicating earth notes add complexity on the long, lemony, herbal finish. Very interesting and complex Coda di Volpe wine from the recognized master of the variety, Raffaele Troise, whose new winery takes the name of Traerte.

Vadiaperti Coda di Volpe Campania 2017

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

So there we were, in the heat of the early summer, frantically opening whatever we had left in the cellar for the cheese course.  Vadiaperti Coda di Volpe. OK. Wait, what is this? Whatevs, open it. Then...a lot of deer-in-the-headlights looks. WHOA. This is CRAZY good. We look it up. 94 points. An acclaimed and highly regarded master of the varietal, and a 94 from Vinous. Dang, we knew this was something special. Anyway -- you NEED to taste this (we had it with great assorted cheeses, highly recommended, FYI) --- be ready to have your melon twisted big time. Wow!

We locked up a few cases this morning (wine slingers never rest...) and we can't say enough of what a fantastic little gift to yourself this would be!! Wildly spicy, earthy, deep, fresh and complex. So many layers. You MUST taste it! 94 points! Fantastic price while it lasts...!

About the Producer

Vintner Raffaele Troise is the recognized master of this obscure white variety which translates to the tail of the fox. The name refers to the obscure shape of the clusters which are long narrow clusters that loosely resemble a fox tail. From the beautiful rolling volcanic hills of Campania, this wine will transport you to somewhere you have never been. This is one of the longest, most thought-provoking Italian white we have tasted in some time. Bravo!
