32 Winds Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard 2018 - First Bottle

Reviews

95 Jeb Dunnuck -
Slightly more expensive, the single vineyard 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard spent 17 months in 20% new barrels. It's a bigger wine, with a touch more mid-palate density and depth, yet it still has plenty of underlying structure and tannic grip, offering up lots of redcurrant and darker cherry fruit as well as curing spices, smoke, and foresty, earthy notes. Give this rocking effort 2-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade or more. This beauty strikes a good balance between Old World and New World.
95 James Suckling -
A floral nose of roses and violets with plenty of red and black fruit as well. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins. There is a lot of heft on the palate, with dense, inky plum and black-cherry flavor. There is a brooding, mineral-like character, which adds to the complexity on the long finish. Espresso at the end. This will do well with some age. Best after 2023.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
32 Winds is an ambitious project that began when owner Ed Mascarin set out on a journey. Born and raised in a farming region of Central California, Ed is the 3rd generation of vineyard managers and winery workers in his large Italian family. In pursuit of a dream to return to his roots, Ed, together with his daughter Mia, brought this vision to life, creating the finest wines from legendary Sonoma County and Napa Valley. For the first few years the winemaker was Ehren Jordan (of Turley and Failla fame), and most recently, the brilliant Matt Taylor (Araujo, Domaine Dujac) has taken the reins. Luscious, savory, beautifully built pinot from the much-coveted Platt Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, near Freestone. Has a “Burgundian” structure, and flows with tons of mid-palate and deeper, spicier notes on the finish. EXCELLENT stuff -- and our great price??! 95 POINTS! $53.95 on 4 with free ground shipping! Awesome! While it lasts!
