Domaine Anne Gros Clos Vougeot le Grand Maupertuis Grand Cru 2018 - First Bottle

Reviews

93-95 Vinous -
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has a little more fruité on the nose compared to the Echezeaux, offering cranberry, raspberry and light aromas of damp woodland. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, fine acidity and a lightly spiced, quite linear finish that feels persistent and satisfying. Superb.
95 Jeb Dunnuck -
Coming the southwest corner of this site and from 40-year-old vines, the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Le Grand Maupertui was all destemmed and aged in one-third new French oak. Rocking black cherry, violets, spring flowers, sandalwood, and incense notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, focused, structured wine that has fine tannins, considerable elegance, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Clos Vougeot is a very big Grand Cru site and many Burgundy experts agree that it is not all created equally and when you gets your lips on a glass of Domaine Anne Gros magical CV, you'll understand why she is adamant that le Grand Maupertuis is the filet mignon of the vineyard. The 2018 is off-the-chain, we begged and pleaded for a scant 12 bottles and we are thrilled to have any at all. This is going to be a cellar treasure for any serious Burghound.

About the Producer

Anne Gros took over her father's winery (Domaine Francois Gros) in the late 1980s. Yet there have been Gros family members in Vosne since the 1830s; land holdings have split among family members for generations. Today, there are four separate wineries in Vosne owned by the extended Gros family.
