Ernest Pinot Noir The Settler Cleary Ranch Sonoma Coast 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Pale to medium ruby, the 2016 Pinot Noir Cleary Ranch The Settler has a nose of granite dust, tobacco leaf, crunchy cranberry and Bing cherry with soft potpourri touches. Light to medium-bodied, it's earthy and minerally in the mouth with soft, grainy tannins and a nuanced finish that segues from earth and swells into tart red fruits. 329 cases were made.
93 James Suckling -
An attractive array of brambly wild-cherry aromas lead to a palate that has a succulent, restrained and vibrantly elegant texture with juicy, lithe red cherries. Impressive structural detail. Drink or hold.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Was $56. Today? No no -- $29.95! How do we do it? Don’t mull it over, just jump! Co-owner Todd Gottula is a passionate Burgundy lover. Together with partner Erin Brooks and winemaker Kent Humphrey (Eric Kent Wines), they are quietly making killer Sonoma Pinots, and we scored a small batch of their double-93 point “Settler” bottling, named after Todd’s grandfather. ONLY 16 CASES!

While “Burgundian” is a braid term, these ARE medium-weight, focused, crunchy, serious Pinots, oh yes. Reviews below, but know that you will be utterly appreciating the freshness, relatively low alcohol, layered complexity and cherry/rhubarb/sweet herb, truffley goodness, we promise. Settler comes from a 6-acre vineyard downslope from Freestone Hill Vineyard in the West Sonoma Coast. Clones are Pommard, 777, 667 and 113 harvested at average Brix of 23.1º. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels, 30% new. You will love it!

$29.95 and free ground shipping on 6+ bottles as always! First come, first served!

About the Producer

Since we know you're wondering: Yes, there was a man named Ernest. He was an entrepreneur, a risk-taker and a role model for his grandson, Todd Gottula, who founded our winery with his wife, Erin Brooks, back in 2012. Today, the "Ernest" in our name stands for more than one man. It's about integrity in the fruit we use and the people we know. It's about restraint, about how ego drives nothing we do.
