Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf du Pape l`Avenue 2014 - First Bottle

Reviews

95 Wine Spectator -
Features an intense and focused beam of raspberry, dark plum and blackberry coulis flavors, stretching out over a silky but substantial structure. Black tea, anise and light alder details fill in on the finish, giving this added energy and range. Tempting now, but will improve with cellaring. Best from 2018 through 2029. 50 cases imported.
92-94 Vinous -
Vivid ruby. Potent, sharply focused, mineral-accented raspberry and cherry compote aromas are complicated by sexy floral and Asian spice qualities. Seamless, round and alluringly sweet, offering intense red berry preserve and lavender pastille flavors and hints of allspice and white pepper on the back half. Finishes sappy, precise and extremely long, showing velvety tannins and lingering raspberry liqueur and spicecake qualities.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
My favorite of the three 2014s is the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape L'Avenue, which like the 2015, is 100% Grenache aged all in demi-muids. There’s just over 100 cases made, and it has sweet, Provençal notes of red and black fruits, garrigue and spice as well as medium to full-bodied richness, impressive girth and depth on the palate, with sweet tannin. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years
