The star of the three 2015s is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon and this sensational wine is pure perfection in the glass. Offering an off-the-charts bouquet of blueberries, black cherries, incense, graphite, cigar wrapper, and flowers, it's ripe, unctuous and gorgeously concentrated on the palate, all while staying ethereal, elegant and seamless, with no weight or heaviness. Utterly sensational stuff, it's already a joy to drink, yet is going to benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring and keep for two decades or more. Given its power and richness paired with an incredible elegance, it reminds me of the 2009 Haut Bailly. Bravo!

Deep inky-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard reveals a beautiful, floral nose of violets and potpourri wafting over the expressive core of crushed blackcurrants, black cherries and blackberries plus hints of pencil lead, tree bark, Chinese five spice and Sichuan pepper. The palate is simply mind-blowing, offering this incredible intensity, depth of black fruit and spicy flavors in a wonderfully elegant medium to full-bodied palate, with exquisitely fine tannins to frame and bags of freshness on the finish. Very impressive Cab!

Very deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper is youthfully mute, offering glimpses at fresh blueberries, red and black plums and mulberries with hints of underbrush, loam, cedar and cardamom plus a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is wonderfully intense and elegant, revealing fresh berry and earth layers that are superbly supported by very ripe, fine tannins and the right amount of freshness, finishing long with mineral nuances.

About the Producer

Wines, like people, are a reflection of their origin and evolution. By selecting three different vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and making them in the same way, the Debate seeks to point out the diversity of terroir as well as the diversity of people. We live in an age where less and less time is spent at the dinner table discussing these different points of view. The Debate's mission is to bring people together to share a glass of wine to discuss and debate just as our team does.
