Georges Vernay Cote Rotie Blonde du Seigneur 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Vinous -
Bright purple. Smoke- and mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas, with licorice and olive paste nuances adding complexity. Sweet, penetrating dark berry and floral pastille flavors are enlivened by a smoky mineral element and pick up a peppery quality with air. Fleshes out slowly on the clinging well-delineated finish, which is framed by harmonious tannins that blend smoothly with the wine`s energetic dark fruit. There`s impressive energy here considering the warmth on the vintage.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
This historic domaine gets plenty of love for its Condrieu bottlings, but the medium-bodied 2015 Cote Rotie Blonde du Seigneur is a terrific red. Perfumed of violets and mixed herbs, loaded with compact purple raspberry fruit, it's tannic but ripe, with a long, velvety finish.
93 James Suckling -
From the Côte Blonde, with 5% viognier and 30% new oak. This has attractive poached strawberry and cherry fruits as well as sweet pepper and spices. Extremely fresh. Attractive and taut. Elegant. Pure and long cherry and pomegranate. Tannins are fine and laced up firm. Drink now.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Triple 93-pointer! Not to mention - vintage of the century in Northern Rhone! How do we do it at this price? Don’t ask, just jump!

If you are one of the few hardcores who drinks Condrieu (it is nearly impossible to find, for a start) you KNOW Georges Vernay. He is a master and the driving force behind the appellations ressurgence over the past decades. His followers buy with abandon every year for good reason. Many don't know that Christine Vernay, who took over for her father Georges in 1997, is making some incredibly exiting reds to rival the best in the region. We were incredibly lucky to purchase a TINY parcel of the rare Cote Rotie Blonde du Seigneur 2015, his Syrah from the Cote Blonde sourced from two spectacular sites, Lancement and Côteaux de Semons. You MUST taste it to believe it. We really feel that these 93 point scores do not do this wine justice...AT ALL! We have a simply outrageous price today, and we encourage ANYONE who loves Cote Rotie to lock up as much as you can. Wow. We all got our 6-pack!!

By all accounts, Vernay’s style leans a bit more feminine than many neighbors, and in a fantastic vintage like this 2015, it’s simply gorgeous -- hugely aromatic, overty floral, spicy and perfumed, concentrated, deep and expressive. It will age for several decades, likely, but even now it exudes harmony and velvety texture. Packed with purple fruits, fresh and energetic and seamless. Delicious. THE PRICE! We still can’t believe it. Read the reviews below...and please don’t miss this uber-rarity at the best price anywhere by a long shot. Just 12 cases up for grabs!
