Alain Voge Cornas Vieilles Vignes 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Wine Spectator -
Dark yet inviting, with a well of boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors luring you in, while charcoal, bay leaf and cast-iron notes add contrast and range to hold your attention. The grippy finish shows cut and energy, with a lingering savory and rosemary edge. Best from 2021 through 2037. 1,350 cases made.
95 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
Rich, deep and layered, the 2015 Cornas Vieilles Vignes has it all. Big fruit allied to spicy complexity? Check. Ample tannins that are fully ripe? Check. A finish that extends for days? Check. Oh, you want details? Hints of brown sugar, savory spices and roast meat accent black berry and plum fruit, and while the mid-palate is dense and tannic, those tannins actually turn more supple and approachable on the lingering finish. -- Joe Czerwinski in Issue #234, Dec 2017

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
The scores and terrific prices speak for themselves. Domaine Alain Voge is a family-run winery based in Cornas and has over time built itself the reputation as a superstar of the appellation and its benchmark without doubt. The 2015 vintage in Northern Rhone is a near perfect vintage and one that Philippe Guigal is quoted as saying: "it is surely the vintage of a lifetime. In 55 years, I’ve never seen anything like it...the best since 1929, 1947 and 1961." That is not a statement we take likely! Wine of this quality and pedigree from such a lauded vintage is rarely this affordable, act accordingly!

About the Producer

Alain Voge and his wife Elaine have been estate-bottling Cornas since the 1950s. With over 70 parcels totaling seventeen acres that are farmed organically and biodynamically, Alain Voge is one of the hottest producers in the region. Despite Parker, Spectator and Dunnuck calling them some of the finest wines made in the world, the Voges remain humble and the kind of people you wish could be your grandparents. Alberic Mazoyer is the consulting winemaker and has further refined these incredible expressions of the granitic terroir.
