Tenuta Argentiera Bolgheri Superiore 2015 - First Bottle

Reviews

99 James Suckling -
A delightful nose of creme de cassis, hot stones and crushed violets and spices. Full body, chewy and super polished tannins and a long finish, which really takes off thanks to electric acidity. An essay in balance and depth. Best ever. Puts Argentiera with the best of the best in Tuscany. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc.
95 Wine Spectator -

Sleek and elegant, featuring black currant, violet, iron, licorice, olive, tobacco and spice flavors. Deftly balanced, picking up rosemary, juniper and pine accents as this plays out on the long, cohesive finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2023 through 2042. 7,083 cases made.

94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2015 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera shows a lot of fullness and generosity, with depth. The texture is wonderfully soft and velvety. It has a beautiful richness to it, with notes of chocolate, spice and dark fruit. This Bolgheri blend is beaming with warm sunshine from within with integrated tannins and mild freshness.

A dream team in the works.”
 - Wine Advocate. We have a tiny parcel of this colossal no-brainer (assuming you love Super Tuscans as much as we do). Tenuta Argentiera is located in a majestic stretch of land on the southern Tuscan coast, between woods and Mediterranean scrub. This wine is on par with the great “aia’s” s, with a world class team and the raw materials to create the region's very best wines. In fact, it is neighbors to some of the biggest names in Italian wine: Guado al Tasso, Ornellaia and Sassicaia! In a powerful vintage like 2015, this wine will age for decades if you so choose, but it is pretty tough to resist now. In early 2019, Argentiera hired the incredibly talented Leonardo Raspini to run the estate, Raspini spent 14 years at the helm of Ornellaia. This is an estate that is on the fast track to legend status, especially as their 20 year old vineyard comes into its own.

About the Producer

Tenuta Argentiera stands in a magnificent patch of land in the Maremma that blends countryside and sea, suspended between woods and Mediterranean scrub. They are located in the heart of the small but prestigious Doc Bolgheri, a terroir dedicated to great red wines and synonymous with the celebrated "Super Tuscan." The name Argentiera carries significant meaning: it comes from the silver ("argento") mines that once dotted the hills of this high lying area of the Maremma - a place rich in natural springs and healing waters. The Estate is the closest winery to the Tyrrhenian coast and at the same time, the highest in altitude of the entire Bolgheri territory, reaching 200 meters above sea level.
