Alfaro Family Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard is even better than the 2015, opening in the glass with a vibrant bouquet of citrus zest, pastry cream, crisp pear and toasted almonds. On the palate, it`s medium-bodied, bright and acid-driven, with a crisp, mineral finish and lovely lingering length and intensity. Given its balance and structure, I`d expect this to improve in bottle for several years and to see out its tenth birthday in style. For lovers of tensile, chiseled Chardonnay, this is an extraordinary value.

About the Producer

Richard Alfaro and his wife Mary Kay enjoy the fruits of their labor. After a satisfying career as the founders of a restaurant and the wholesale baking company known under their own name - Alfaro's Micro Bakery - the couple shifted gears in 1997, acquiring an aging 75 acre apple farm south of Santa Cruz in Corralitos, California, which they subsequently transformed into Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery. There are 56 acres currently under vine. Alfaro is a true artisan producer of small lot vineyard designated wines reflecting their personality of climate and place.
