Sweet, seamless and pure, offering sappy black currant, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that expand with aeration. The marriage of power to delicacy here is fabulous. The tiny production 2015 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard is a sensational Syrah that has complexity, elegance and richness. Upfront and perfumed aromatically, yet with serious intensity in its violets, flowers, blueberries, toasty oak and spice, it has an elegant, seamless style on the palate that's already hard to resist. Reminding me of a silky Côte Rotie from the southern end of the appellation, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for a decade.

About the Producer
Bibiana Gonzalez Rave is the founder and winemaker of Cattleya Wines. Born and raised in Colombia and trained as a winemaker in France, she moved to California in 2007. She had always dreamt of making wine since she was a teenager. She trained herself while working with some amazing winemakers who showed her the importance of loving the land, how to respect the farming, and to focus on the many details that go into making each bottle. Making the highly acclaimed wines of Pahlmeyer and Wayfarer over the last several years inspired her to go out on her own and the results are extraordinary.
