The NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Quintessence du Pinot Noir is a beautiful, resonant wine with tons of Bouzy textural richness. Small red berry, dried herbs, crushed flowers and spice fill out the wine`s frame effortlessly. Readers who enjoy Blanc de Noirs will find much to admire here. This is a terrific showing.

Disgorged in December 2017, the latest rendition of Barnaut's NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru is showing very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of minty red apples, clear honey, warm brioche and iodine. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and textural, with ripe acids, a fleshy core of nicely defined fruit, a pinpoint mousse and a precise finish. This is a charming, flavorful Blanc de Noirs that's already drinking well.

I very much like the complexity of the green apple, pear and white flower scents that are trimmed in toasty yeast elements that can also be found on the delicious and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess the same fine depth as communicated by the nose, all wrapped in a succulent and saliva-inducing finale. This is really quite good and while I wouldn't describe it as an elegant Champagne, if you enjoy full-flavored, indeed even robust, examples, this would be a good one to check out.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
While we DO love saying "Bouzy" (try it!), this 93-pointer is anything but. Rich and mouthcoating, priced fantastically well for bubbly at this level, and pretty hard to find in the U.S! No worries, we gotcha covered!!
About the Producer
From the Grand Cru village of Bouzy where Pinot Noir is king, Philippe and Laurette Seconde, the 5th generation to be making Champagne from their family holdings, are crafting some of our favorite Blanc de Noirs in Champagne. Barnaut uses a very high percentage of Reserve wine in all of their bottlings (at least 50 percent!), giving the wines a vinous character and round texture. Not a ton to go around!
