Domaine de Pallus has been around since 1883, and in 2003, Bertrand Sourdais returned to his family’s estate after gaining experience and renown at Dominio de Atauta in Spain’s Ribera del Duero. His outsider’s perspective brought a refreshed vision for the estate, and he began focusing on organic and biodynamic practices, including natural yeasts and low yields, to maximize the winery’s quality. Bertrand specializes in long, gentle extractions – sometimes more than 30 days – and aging in neutral Burgundian oak to produce elegant, structured, and savory Chinons.

The  96-point La Rougerie is filled with blue and black berries, plus Asian spices, dried meat, tingly clove, and incredibly smooth and balanced.

About The Producer

Domaine de Pallus is a Loire Valley estate with deep historical roots in Saumur-Champigny, known for its thoughtful approach to Cabernet Franc and commitment to sustainable farming. Over decades, the domaine has built a reputation for producing wines of finesse, clarity, and vibrant expression that reflect the chalky, limestone soils of the region. Currently, Domaine de Pallus remains a benchmark producer in the Loire, marrying traditional viticulture with modern precision to craft wines that are both serious and approachable.
